Saturday 18 June: Summer Reception

The Summer Reception at the Oxford Botanic Garden was attended by over 50 members and guests. Tea and refreshments were served in the conservatory and members were able to walk round the beautiful gardens on what turned out to be a nice summer's day. The event raised £1,185 for the Trust Fund.

Friday 16 September: Annual General Meeting

Barbara Blatch was replaced as Vice-Chairman by Bob Dewar, and Clare Lawrance elected to the Committee. The remaining Officers and Committee were re-elected and are listed in About Us.

The accounts for the year ending 30 June 2011 were approved at the last AGM. The consolidated income for the year was £ 8,891 grants totaling £3,000 were made, bringing total grants over the last ten years to £ 40,883. Donations made during the last financial year were to Cure International £1,000, Malawi Healthcare Support £1,000 and Community Support – Samalani £1,000.

After the formal proceedings Alastair Hazell spoke on his recently published book "The Last Slave Market: Dr John Kirk And The Struggle to End The African Slave Trade".
