More than 80 members and guests attended the Garden Party at the Manor House, Dorchester-on-Thames. They were addressed by the Malawi High Commissioner who was present with his wife.

Janie Hampton, Director of the Chauncy Maples Malawi Trust (www.chauncymaples.org) showed a short film and spoke about the renovation of the SS Chauncy Maples.
Professor Lavy, an eminent orthopaedic surgeon at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford and Oxford University, gave an inspiring illustrated talk about his decade in Malawi. He described the economic and social background, the various types of orthopaedic problem and treatment, culminating in the foundation of Malawi’s first children’s hospital.
